A comedic, gay, bedroom farce, if you will, since both sonny and bitsy are already in relationships. The gay relationshis are treated with an unusual amount of respect, for the times. The usual gay references and jokes, as expected. And why not? Macchio had already made his karate kid money, parts one, two, and three. Downey junior had already hit it big on his own, with back to school and less than zero. Directed by robert downey senior. Laura ernst, who plays susan, was married to downey senior for three years, until she died of ALS. And the title.... too much sun.. is a pun on the word "son".... as there are too many sons in the film. And a fun connection-- the mailman is played by chris mankiewicz, related to all the famous mankiewicz-hollywood-writers! It's funny and silly. Much better than the low ratings on imdb, as of today.
