Compelling with superb performances by Timothy Spall and Ann Reid; also a strong supporting cast (especially from the close relatives). I have a vague recollection of the court case but that doesn't matter. It's a well-paced series with a strong script. I am not sure I have any better understanding of why Field did what he did and what came before, but that is immaterial to these events. The only issue for me at the end was the relationship between Ben and Martyn given his proximity to the main protagonists and why he tagged along. A quick mention too of Sheila Hancock, who also appears periodically and as ever is great to watch.
