Warning: Spoilers
The second season of Foundation, the ambitious sci-fi adaptation of Isaac Asimov's classic novels, kicks off with a bang. The first episode, titled "In Seldon's Shadow", picks up 100 years after the events of the season 1 finale, and introduces new characters, new conflicts and new mysteries.

The episode follows three main storylines: Gaal Dornick (Lou Llobell) and Salvor Hardin (Leah Harvey), who are reunited on Gaal's home planet of Synnax after a century of cryosleep; Hari Seldon (Jared Harris), who is trapped inside the Prime Radiant, a device that contains his predictions of the future; and Brother Day (Lee Pace), who faces an assassination attempt and a political marriage on Trantor, the capital of the Galactic Empire.

The episode does a great job of balancing the different plots and characters, giving each enough screen time and development. The show continues to impress with its stunning visuals, especially the scenes on Synnax, where Gaal and Salvor have to escape from a deadly storm. The episode also delivers some exciting action sequences, such as Brother Day's fight with the Blind Angels, a group of fanatical rebels who want to overthrow the Empire.

The episode also sets up some intriguing questions for the rest of the season, such as: What is the Prime Radiant's agenda? What is the Vault's connection to Hari Seldon? Who is behind the attack on Brother Day? And what is the next crisis that will threaten the Foundation and the Empire?

Foundation season 2 episode 1 is a strong start to a new chapter of this epic saga. It manages to be both faithful to the source material and creative in its own right. Fans of the show and newcomers alike will find plenty to enjoy in this thrilling premiere.
