I preferred this season to the 2 American ones.
I mildly enjoyed the first two (stand alone) episodes as they were topics that didn't particularly resonate thematically with me. These two seem to have been the most disliked episodes to English speakers, but I believe that to a Japanese viewer, these topics (motherhood, same sex parenthood, cheating) are very prevalent and relevant.
However, the last 4 episodes were amazing. Episode 4 "My hibernating wife", covering mental health within a supportive loving couple, made me cry with how relatable and beautifully it was portrayed. It actually made me research the director of that episode and bookmark some of her films to watch later.
Episodes 4 and 5 are also extremely touching.
Ultimately the last episode which is animated, was my favourite. Maybe it's because it really hit my overly nostalgic past high-school anime loving self! I would have loved to see it be longer, but it successfully came across as retelling of a childhood memory (with a lovely ending).
