This could be co much better if they had not taken so long to get to the "surprise plot element" finally, and episode 5, that most of us had figured out by episode 2. That just makes most of their actions ridiculous and nonsensical. And it does not do justice to the show, actors, sets, editing and other things that work well. It is lazy writing that they are leaning on and that's too bad.
Additionally, the daughter Bailey, is just too absurdly resistant, bratty and obnoxious to care about, and that is a shame. They gave her zero redeeming qualities, which really makes you want to have Jennifer Garner's character tear up that piece of paper that says "protect her" and tell that kid she is on her own, and be done!
I hope they get better writers who actually know how to create a suspense worthy series without cheap, childish tricks and delays.
