As many of you readers might have noticed (and my dearest friends already know) I am one of those guys that can watch anything, and I love to find maligned movies in the hope of being the only one that can like them. When I looked here for OUT WEST I noticed that has a score of 4,9 and only 3 reviews all with scores of 1s and I suddenly asked 'Is it THAT terrible? Could it be?'. So last February I finally saw it and, while I hated it, I certainly didn't saw a reason to give it a 1. If you wanna know why, please read the following text.
Prissy Alcott (Jennifer Elise Cox) lives a lush life in a Reno casino but at the beginning she leaves it for returning to her childhood home in Colorado only to learn that her family is gone broke and the ranch has to be sold. So she has the genius idea of rebooting the family business work as a female rancher with the help of her gay friends, and at the same time Bonnie Calhoun is trying to steal her ranch with the help of her clumsy husband Cal (Sean Astin) that can't make anything good.
As I sat and watched OUT WEST I didn't assumed it was dreadful and worthy of a 1. Yes, it's bad... no doubt about it. But having seen lots of worse movies I can at least recognize one from afar. The main strike is that from time to time there were some very gross scenes that were unnecessary to begin with such as: when a calf has to be delivered there is lots of placenta and blood sprayed on the lead's dress; during the party's animal parade a pig starts to s**t all over the attendants and judges; when Annie is thrown out of the warehouse after an explosion she ends in lots of manure even tho Cal tried to prevent it; and there are many others but thankfully I forgot them.
Overall, a bad movie thanks to some very crass gags and a script that must have been written by some very gross people or some brain-damaged 15 year olds. If you are into bad movies, then give it a look and judge it by yourselves.
