Season 3, Episode 1
8/10
A gritty mystery, strong episode.
22 March 2023
The body of a coal miner, missing for over a decade is found in a mine, his son Colin Farr is sent off the rails by the news, it just so happens that Colin is being taught by Ellie.

Very gritty, it's an intriguing mystery, one that holds up very well with time. There's a lot of Northern grit to enjoy, from the characters, to the setting, it works very well.

Aside from the mystery, you have The Peter and Ellie story, this is where you see their relationship start to break down, they never seemed well suited or happy, this seems like the beginning of the end for them.

The ending is very dramatic, it works so well, it isn't the fastest paced episode you'll see, but the ending will definitely grab your attention.

Andy isn't actually visible all that much here, it's more Ellie that drives the story.

Joy Brook was good as Stella, but Joe Duttine definitely steals the show as Colin, he has so much charisma, excellent performance from him.

8/10.
