Teen science fiction comedy, I don't think that this movie was very well known in Great Britain, I have just watched it for the first time courtesy of Talking Pictures TV (UK). Petrol-head Mike and book nerd Ellie go on an unlikely first date - they break into a government aircraft graveyard. Mike ("Why can't women be like cars?") finds a glowing orb for his high school science project, unbeknown to him its origin is alien and has time warping capabilities. Is this a classic? No, but it is quite charming and fun, though it does feel stretched at times. As usual our "teens" were played by actors in their 20's, John Stockwell (Mike) was 24. I did like the chemistry between him and Ellie (Danielle von Zeerneck). The two standout things about Project for me were the legend that was Dennis Hopper playing a hippy science teacher and towards the end of the movie a battle between teens and a huge dinosaur. Worth a watch but it's not up there with Back to the Future, Weird Science, etc.
