Warning: Spoilers
This is a 1928 Soviet silent movie, a good one. It shows also a little of Soviet life at that time. It tells the story of Parasha Pitunova, a young girl that comes from the deep province to Moscow to look for a job as domestic servant. She knocks by chance on the door of a house where her service is needed since the house work is done by the owner , a wicked man who tries to make her a slave. However she is well accepted around there, starts even a friendly relationship a with a local member of the Worker's Union and become elected for a post in the union. That displeases very much to her boss who expels her almost violently, leaving her jobless. The movie shows many scenes of the life and relations among the local inhabitants even with some funny scenes.
