If you thought Mike Myers was being given too much creative control on those latter two 'Austin Powers' films you haven't seen anything yet.
This whole film is a massive vanity project for Myers, and perhaps he needed a firmer director to say that perhaps not everything here was comic gold.
But it remains entertaining enough, in the sort of comic style that Myers has that you'll either love or hate.
If 'Austin Powers' was his attempt at mimicking Peter Sellers' 'Pink Panther' Inspector Clouseau then this is most certainly his attempt at doing the same with 'The Party'.
