I'm willing to give it a fair chance.

In no way am I shading the only other person that has reviewed this episode, because it would seem we value different things in our entertainment. I know a lot of people that watch criminal and cop procedurals with a critical eye so things that annoy them don't get to me the same way. I like to abandon critical thinking and applications to fictional TV shows. I 100% agree that Nathan Fillion is next level, beyond talented. The man could make watching him take out the trash funny or interesting, but most likely both. But I like Neicy in the episode of The Rookie where they introduced her and this show seems to be taking a play from FBI's playbook and making its spin-off seem a little darker in their tones even if you do have Neicy there for comedic takes. No, I'm real life she probably wouldn't make it through Quantico at her age and she doesn't necessarily look the part of physically fit for the role of an FBI agent but in no way do I mean that as an insult. She's still beautiful and the part I love most about this character is her experience being a guidance counselor and how that plays into why she's good at being a Fed. Just like with the character of John Nolan, she brings a new perspective and an oddly informed insight and wisdom to this character. Don't get me wrong, the female empowerment statements had me rolling my eyes all the way back. But I do like the Vampire Cop/newbie story the way it's included. The Rookie has been a binge worthy show for me since I discovered it two or three seasons in and consumed it far faster than I intended or seems possible. So as I said, I'm fully willing to give this show a chance because I remember turning my nose up at The Rookie for years before I finally actually tried it and loved it. So I'm hoping some of the powers that be have found a way to bring at least some of that magic over to this show. I look forward to getting to know this team better and how their dynamics work. So count me in for the foreseeable future.
