This isn't a good episode of the show, with the idea of Alan now being back to square one feeling a bit jarring. How are we supposed to root for him to have success if we've now seen him blow it instantly?
I take it all back, seeing Charlie fleshed out as a character doesn't work. They try it here and blow it. He's better as a cartoonish womaniser, incapable of any growth.
Throw in an unfunny celeb cameo and you've got a dud.
I would recommend checking out the S4 bloopers though, as there's some stuff with Angus T Jones and the hat that's funnier than anything here.
