The title was the most impressive thing about the movie...
7 July 2022
I stumbled upon the 1987 horror comedy "Slaughterhouse Rock" here in 2022 by random chance. I had never heard about the movie prior to watching it, but I figured with that title and it being a horror comedy, then of course the movie would get a chance.

Well, I can't exactly say that writers Dimitri Logothetis, Sandra Willard, Nora Goodman and Ted Landon actually managed to put together an overly impressive storyline for the movie. Sure, it was watchable for what it was, but "Slaughterhouse Rock" was by no means an outstanding horror comedy, not even by late 1980s standards. So don't get your hopes up for this movie. It felt like there wasn't really a properly thought through red thread throughout the course of the movie; it felt a bit too erratic and random.

The acting in "Slaughterhouse Rock" was adequate, nothing outstanding. The movie didn't have any recognizable faces on the cast list.

The special effects in the movie were actually good enough, for a movie of this caliber.

All in all, then "Slaughterhouse Rock" was watchable for a single viewing, though I can't claim that I was particularly entertained. And this is without a doubt not a movie that I will be returning to watch a second time, nor is it a movie that I would recommend horror comedy fans to rush out to get to watch.

My rating of "Slaughterhouse Rock" lands on a generous four out of ten stars.
