A barebones low budget production by future A Christmas Story director, Bob Clark, about a war veteran who dies in the line of fire and is brought back via his mother's wish. When he returns, he's not quite the same. Not only is he sullen and withdrawn, but he needs human blood to survive and is soon terrorizing the town to get his supply. The low budget grit only helps make Deathdream even scarier and more urgent and the finale packs a brutal punch.
