This episode we have here only goes by the title "200" and the number is of course no coinciende because for this one here Parker and Stone came up with something really special. But let's take a look first the the basics: This is stil one of the earlier episodes from season 14 and it was released back in 2010. Running time is the usual slightly over 20 minutes. This is basically the first half of a double episode and this one here just like the one that follows have been banned from most platforms, so it is definitely a challenge to get your hands on it and if you are not from the US, it is literally impossible to find a dubbed version in your language. What is the reason? Did Tom Cruise send all his lawyers to go up against it? Nope. The reason is the prophet Mohammed. I am not sure you can say they ridiculed him here, but everything that is said about him and also how he is depicted inside a Halloween costume is something that most Muslims will not appreciate at all. What was the consequence? Censorship. As low as it gets. A priceless reaction though because this is exactly what the episode focuses on. Parker and Stone even saw the urgency to release a statement on the way their craft was censored. It is pretty sad. Still, it is not impossible at all to watch this episode. And if you do, I am positive you will like it.
The very best moment by far for me was a very short one, but one that basically summarized all this in a nutshell. Namely when there is talk about mocking other deities and we see one sniff cocaine. Enough said. Don't even think about doing this to Mohammed. You may say that this moment was against said other religion, but this is something only the untrained eye would think. In reality, Parker and Stone made it very obvious that this was basically just a proxy to Mohammed and they could not show the same scene with him without causing a gigantic escalation that could maybe even put their own lives in danger. Alll this from the so-called religion of peace. Anyway, back to this episode: Another very brief moment I liked was when we saw Stan without a hat for once. Interesting and always funny to see the kids' hair. Another reason why I give this episode a positive recommendation is basically the big amount of famous people included in here. Basically everybody who got mocked on South Park over the course of the previous 13 seasons. Some are featured more, others less. You will see Rob Reiner, Bono, Mel Gibson (although he does not talk), Tom Cruise at the center of it all and eventually also Barbra Streisand, who now in 2022 soon turns 80.
Stuff I thought was okay at best or that I did not like too much here included Cartman's scenes. Otherwise always my favorite, but his Jennifer Lopez running gag did not do too much for me, even if it was funny how Cruise for example only saw her there and did not see Cartman. When the thumb play took another direction later on I was unimpresssed as well. The ginger inclusion came out of nowhere and added very little comedic value for me unfortunately. The end was better with Cartman again as they created (again out of nowhere) the ultimate cliffhanger by making a reference back to the eternal mystery that is Cartman's father. The way in which it all escalated when Cruise is called a fudge packer (because that was exactly what he did) was fairly funny too. So yeah, definitely enough strong moments from beginning to end here for me give this episode a thumbs-up too, even if I do not have Jennifer Lopez ready. She'd make an interesting couple with Cruise, wouldn't she? Never mind oh and as for Cruise, let me add that I like him as an actor a lot and was not offended and I hope he can finally win an acting Oscar too one day after all the big name stars Clooney, DiCaprio, Pitt and Smith now have. Maybe the only one missing from this group except Cruise would be Depp, but he will have a hard time with people finding out more about his private life than they wanted. Anyway, we are drifting away now, so back to this episode: Oh yes, Cruise's religious affiliation is also not part of the story this time. This is all. Watch this episode and enjoy it if you manage to find it somewhere. I think it's worth seeing for the aforementioned reasons and the controversy, the priceless irony that it got banned.
