Fascinating true story
21 March 2022
Found this by accident in my local library and watched on Hoopla. The above reviewer says it all - but I can add that the humanitarian efforts of then president Quezon enabled a local Philippine Jewish family, along with an American diplomat and then army colonel Eisenhower, to hatch a plan (first discussed during friendly poker games) to help 1,300 Jewish families escape the Nazis and flee to the Philippines - Quezon even loaned his family land to house the refugees - quite impressive, especially given that the US and most of the rest of the world, looked the other way! I highly recommend this short, absorbing and highly moving documentary.
