A little murder, a little music, a lot of mayhem.

Warning: Spoilers
This silly comedy mystery is saved by the presence of Sonny Hale, the second female lead in Jessie Matthews musical 'Evergreen", playing two characters, a dippy socialite in the 17th century who is the witness to a duel of her character who is a witness in a murder which occurred at the same place three centuries later. She's had with the bumbling Gordon Harker who is the butler in the opening sequence and the not so smart Constable who was allegedly a witness to Hale shoplifting. While running around trying to get away from Parker, Hale n the second half comes across the dead body and soon all the suspects come together, tying it to a case already in the courts.

Hale performs to musical numbers, one in each part, and while the songs are forgettable, she is perky in performing them. The first half ends with the man killed in the jewel putting a curse on the other man, and this leads to a series of tragic occurrences in each century then, just won the latest of them. It's a silly and often too tightly wound up little comedy mystery, highly convoluted but saved by Hales' energetic performance. Without her being there or the presence of the stiff upper lip Harker, this would get a much lower rating from me.
