Review of Sisak

Sisak (2017)
5/10
Ultimately pessimistic

As the IMDB synopsis explains, this short film is the history of a wordless flirtation between two men over several days on a commuter train. Parts of it were impenetrable. We never understand the tears of the younger man that provoke a similar reaction in the older guy.

Over time, the two men get closer, physically, emotionally and intellectually via their wordless signalling on their transport. The ending for me, though, is pessimistic - for the first time, they alight at the same station but on opposite sides of the rails and on different platforms.

I enjoyed this. It sustained the interest despite the lack of dialogue.
