"Smitty" is a very decent drama/coming of age/family movie that your family would want to watch maybe once considered this has some bullying issues, vandalism issues, a scene where a man (played by Louis Gossett Jr) dies from a heatstroke and a scene where the dog nearly dies from being hit a by a truck at end. Plus David Mickey Evans (the Sandlot) does a decent good job directing this film and the child acting (with Brandon Tyler Russell) looks fair enough and Peter Fonda definitely is brilliant as the grandfather.
So if your a dog lover, I recommend seeing it once since there are some scenes that would traumatize children for years to come.
