worth binging

Warning: Spoilers
There's something to be said for being able to binge an entire show from episode one to final episode when cancelled. Not always do we get a "wrap up" episode and we didn't get one here either. It would have been nice but it was time to put an end to Dr. Tony Hill's sideline work so it would have benefitted from them giving us one.

Fascinating series. Couldn't put it down or turn it off. Absolutely fantastic stories and acting. But the last season wasn't up to par and it wasn't the regular's fault. Someone changed something in the formula that you can't quite put a finger on but it was noticeable in some of the episodes (filming was jerky, like emulating real life videos, one episode was done all in white, a few were done in blue overtones and other artsy stuff). It completely ruined the series, culminating in a cancellation that I agreed with.

The first five seasons were outstanding. Even when they replaced the secondary character without much explanation it got on with the business of Dr. Tony Hill so it was ok in the end. Stories were riveting, acting excellent and characters you got to know each episode. But it's hard to sustain and churn out the same week after week and that became evident the last season.

Dr. Tony Hill was Monk and Sherlock from Elementary (two shows I loved) all rolled into one before those two existed. Well worth binging.
