The Bill: Getting Involved (1991)
Season 7, Episode 63
7/10
A nice change in tone.

P. C. Smollett tries to help a family he has stayed in touch with since his days on the beat, only his interference lands him in hit water.

I can now see the pattern with the show, we have the core characters, where most of the focus is, and we have the supporting cast, the likes of Ford, French, and Smollett, every now and then, one will get a central storyline, and generally they're good, that's the form here.

We learn more about Smollett in this one episode, than we've seen from the last fifty, a good character, one who cares. An enjoyable, emotive episode, one that has a different flavour.

The very recognisable Dilys Watling is excellent here, a very distinctive, very talented family.

Pretty good, 7/10.
