Stars in My Crown is a story centered pretty much on three men and the child who witnessed it. A Pastor straight from the war wants to evangelize a rough town and does through by some bullying maneuvers. There is a black man who enjoys keeping to himself but loves to help his fellow man. A Doctor is representative of the medical and science community that does not believe in the power of Christianity but is dedicated to helping mankind. There is a pandemic and the Doctor blames the Pastor for spreading it by visiting people. The Pastor and his family hunker until the source of the pandemic is solved. However, the Doctor's fiancée who had become sick gets to the point where the Doctor feels hopeless. As a comfort to her, the Doctor allows the Pastor to visit. After hours of prayer by the Pastor at her bedside, she awakens. Meanwhile the mineral vein spills over into the black man's property and the town wants to take over his property. However, he loves it there and will not sell. The townspeople seeing this mineral as a way to prosperity raze his crops and scare off his animals trying to force him to sell. Seeing this, the Pastor storms into the general store where many of the townsmen are hanging out and he tries to bully them into stopping this evil that he says is worse than the pandemic. The men who had talked themselves into a rage of propaganda against this man don't listen, That night, the townspeople band together, put on their hoods, and go to lynch the black man. They expect a fight when at the house they meet the Pastor. But he is unarmed and says he won't stop them. And as they drag the black man to the nearest tree. The Pastor says that first he would like to read the black man's will. Surprised the men stop and he reads most people's name one by one and tells how the black man individually leaves them his fishing pole, his gun, his watermelon patch, his dog etc.; because they admired them when he they were younger when they did things together. He then finishes how he wants to leave the land to the richest man in town because he must want it powerfully bad. The Klansmen see the evil in their hearts had spread worse than the pandemic and their hatred for this one man was unjustified. The man with the rope has an epiphany and throw done the rope and walks off. One by one the other men walk off. That Sunday, the Church is full. People are smiling because they realize they have Stars in Their Crown. This great movie was almost ruined by the two commentators who for some reason could not process it. One person even said it was laughable how the lynchers walked away. I wonder if he laughed when he heard how the people who were going to stone the young lady? She had sinned but the mob walked away one by one after Jesus asked them a simple question?
