I'm not a regular viewer of the romcom genre. infact most of the time i avoid them like a plague. However, i'm not sure if the character Jed was just hot of a dead ringer for "the one that got away", but i went into this film blind and as soon as it established the romance story line i start getting that knotted in your stomach feeling. You know, that nauseous impatient gloomy feeling you might get when you suddenly realize you are watching with a group of people who are totally stoked for the story and watching it together, and you are the ONLY person that would rather watch paint dry. The wines been popped, everyone's committed to their resting place, curled up with a concoction of snacks between yourselves. And it's just "too late to bail now" kind of knotted feeling. well that started happening but, i kept on watch in'.and i was not disappointed. Conceptually a purposeful and satisfying film. Some of the time I wondered if the casting could've been tweaked because some of the performances were very stiff and awkward in the language. Like it was mist matched with their essence. Either that or the writing of the characters and their dialogue needed more heart and soul. It's just not how people speak to each other when they are connected to each other and emotionally present. Felt like a PSA in some spots. However I thought Nick Thule was cast well and had so much heart in his performance. Pouring out of his eyes in fact. Good job Nick!
