The first film was a bright, brash fairly campy love story qua coming of age qua musical. That is precisely how I would describe this film as well. This film follows in its predecessor's footsteps by introducing a foil for Zed (beside Bucky) and splitting up the love-birds. the film even keeps the heavy handed (and malformed) allegory around diversity, social justice going. The music, dance, technical aspects of the film are uniformly excellent; the cast is clearly still having fun and the new members fit well. Whatever you think of the first film you'll probably think the same thing about this one.
