I think with this episode, you have to get it to get it. I really loved Mr Monk's Favorite Show and its sly pop culture references to kiss-and-tell memoirs about a popular 70s sitcom. Monk's dream comes true when he's hired to guard his childhood idol Christine Rapp (Elizabeth Perkins). Christine's sizzling memoir reminded me of the 90s kiss-and-tell book You'll Never Make Love In this Town Again which really shattered my squeaky image views of actors like John Ritter (who supposedly had "pure, hot jackhammer sex" for 9 and-a-half hours). The references to The Brady Bunch was hilarious and seriously, I could not stop laughing big time! The summation was pure genius.
