Not sure what the deal is with the low review scores, but this is one of those movies that you watch on the big-screen, volume up, bass pounding...and just enjoy the ride.
The editing has been criticized, but for me, the editing was one of the things that made this movie so fun...it adds so much style to the production, makes it that much more slick. This is a fun movie, no question about it. The plot is there to serve up the action and that's about it...which is fine but makes this one of those movies you'll actually want to watch, rather than peek out over your cell phone once in awhile. Most of the fun to be had is in the sleekly edited, overly bombastic action scenes, and if you're missing those, you're missing the point of the movie...its what its all about.
It seems as if people have reviewed this movie as if the movie didn't know what it was...who it was meant for. It wears its intent on its sleeve...it seems odd to press play on a movie like this and then review it poorly later...it knows what it is, you knew what it was, what are you doing here if this wasn't your thing?
Nope, won't win any academy awards, but its obvious that a lot of attention and elbow grease went into this production...its a very well made mindless action movie that, if you don't mind that, you'll end up seeing more than once, in all likelihood.
