Time to Hunt (2020)
6/10
Interesting but flawed

Warning: Spoilers
TIME TO HUNT is an intriguing futuristic thriller from South Korea, a film whose flaws in the end become too many to make it a truly enjoyable watch. Saying that, there's still a lot of good stuff on offer here, from a talented young cast doing their very best with the limited material, to excellent moody photography and a great kind of dystopian backdrop you never normally see in Korean cinema.

The problem with all this is the script, which is meandering in the extreme; the running time could have been cut in half to make this pacy and exciting, but here it just drags on (I had the same problem with the Mel Gibson starrer DRAGGED ACROSS CONCRETE). In addition, the characters are limited, so much so that you don't really care too much about their plight despite the suspense inherent in the scenario. Compare this to a true classic like THE YELLOW SEA, made ten years previously, and the two films are miles apart.
