Black Friday
22 April 2020
One of the earliest work from Kashyap which literally brings him into the game of mainstream cinema. Black Friday is based on 1993 Bombay (Now Mumbai) bomb blasts and its investigation. Despite of being completed and presented in Locarno International Film Festival in 2004 the theatrical release was halted due to the petition filed in court by the time film got approval for its release it was too late yet it was released in 2007 due to which film lost hi charm in its technical area however film got praises from both critiques and masses. Actual footages can also be seen in movie to set the premise and facts straight. Film roughly shows how Politics and Religious beliefs creates anarchy when sentiments are being manipulated and how third party uses it for their benefits. Religious riots scenes were chilling and showed how it becomes a justification to hurt the opposite sects I guess that is why film concluded with Gandhi's quote 'An eye for an eye will only make the whole world blind'. Blended with some good performances this movie is for dark cinema lovers
