4 Reasons Why The Story Is Absurd
9 June 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Pushing the Earth into a path to reach Proxima Centauri? Because the Sun is dying?

1- The remaining lifetime of the Sun (after which the Sun will expand then die) is roughly 5 billion years. FIVE Billion years, not 300 years. This underestimation is 1 to a tenth of a million.

2- The distance to Proxima Centauri is about 4.3 light years, that is about 40 thousand billion kilometers. To reach this distance within 2500 years, The Earth needs to travel with a constant speed of at least 300 thousand meters per second. 300 thousands m/s for 2500 years!

3- Earth mass is roughly 6 million billion billion kg, and to move this with speed 300 km/s for 2500 years then humanity will need a total energy of 5.4e+35 Joules. Suppose the Sun converts total amount of energy ~ 3.6e+22 J/s. This means: Humanity will need the full energy of The Sun, produced within 476000 years (476305 years to be exact) to achieve this mission.

4- As for the other disastrous idea of igniting Jupiter atmosphere, one can only say one thing loud and clear: HaHaaaaa...

From A To Z, The Story Is A Complete Nonsense! It is a pure insult for sci-fi audience. The story would have been more convincing if the mission was about taking a colossal space ark with great number of humans into that course, in the most far future of the Earth. The Daedalus Starship would be an excellent example. I'd love to watch a movie about Daedalus!

Anyway, the effects in this movie were good (hence I rated 6/10), although they're mostly the Chinese duplicates of "2012", "Gravity" and "The Day After Tomorrow" movies.
