I do not know why the writers got so lazy, but the conclusion if this episode does not make sense. Why did Mr Hoover killed Cole? The wrote a paper together with the intention to sabotage the funding of astroid search companies. They did it together. So why kill him? It does not explained in the episode, and makes a poor ending.
