Me and my brother have followed Supergirl since season 1, same as we have with every superhero show out there on CW. We have both complained all season how the show is too much on the nose with it's political commentary, despite myself being left-wing, I was finding it too juvenile and simplistic at times and fully admit I was ready to give up.

But to find out Lex has been behind everything the entire season was something I didn't see coming, whether that's good writing or a massive miss on my part, I don't care, today's episode is great. I'm not comparing Jon Cryer to Gene or Michael and their versions of Lex, they all were different takes on the same character and I'm really enjoying Jon Cryer's, ruthlessly unapologetic, charming and very manipulative and always one step ahead.

Although he's typically a Superman nemesis, by extension he is one of Supergirl as he is all Kryptonians.

I think the show has been clever showing us how easy it is to manipulate people who are already angry, scared and feeling betrayed and let down and Lex fed into that and sowed the seeds of discontent not because he agrees with them, but because it needed to happen for his plan and he has played Ben Lockwood like a puppet and is pulling every string, I bet he was even behind the President giving Lockwood the position as Head of Alien Affairs, he wants this conflict to happen, but the irony is lost on Lex that without his meddling and schemes, none of this would happen so he makes the wildly theoretical a reality.

It's classic Lex and I admit I loved every minute of today's show.

It's been crying out for something different, clever and captivating, I just hope it finishes strong too, especially if next season is the last one.

Definitely looking forward to next week and that's something I haven't said in a long time about this season and the show in general.
