Bill Murray's Scrooged is by far the best modern retelling of The Christmas Carol.
This is a serviceable update with a female slant. Ebbie Scrooge runs a major department store. Her partner Jake Marley died a year earlier. Ebbie cares only about her work and making money for her store.
She gives a derisory Christmas bonus to her staff, gives nothing to charity and even fires a security guard on Christmas Eve.
Later that night she sees Jake Marley who tells Ebbie that she will be visited by three ghosts later that night to show her the errors of her mean ways.
The spirits are played by the staff in her store. The television movie does look a bit low budget though.
