Review of Gotti

Gotti (2018)
6/10
Travolta is at the top of his game, but the scriptwriters and the director are not...

Along with "From Paris with Love", "Gotti" is the best Travolta film of the decade. But Travolta's powerhouse performance as John Gotti is not enough to give this film a good rating. The film is full of confusing montages. It is a muddy pool of flashbacks and flashforwards that do not make sense to an audience that isn't informed about Gotti's life and mob history. The script is sloppy, but the directing is way worse. There is no attempt to cover up the plot holes or confusing chronology of the script. Kevin Connolly must have said "Hey, I'll let Travolta's performance take care of this one!", Travolta IS truly Gotti. But it isn't enough to save the film.

However, this film is is surely Travolta's second comeback since Pulp Fiction. Hence, a must-see for Travolta fans.
