Long Winded Intro Into Hitler's Inner Circle
25 March 2018
If you want to get a picture of the main men who along with Hitler destroyed Germany then this is it. What it really is an intersection of deranged patriotism and individual greed...plus some mental illness for good measure. The series does show how the utter humiliation of Germany after WWI set a stage for an most unlikely deluded person to come to power. The fact that this happened in a company of devious shrewd accomplices is explored. The men of Hitler's inner circle were more consumed with mis-guided greed and patriotism than their demonic leader is often times exposed. In short, the blame for history's greatest human atrocities and unprovoked war devastation had help. I think this is the real worth of this look at Hitler's inner circle of power.

This series is good. It could have been great if made more concise and not stretched for the ten episodes it obviously went for to make a seasonal TV series. When it looks into the minutia of how the Nazi's achieved power it does a give an insightful look to how events and a time came together. It often veers into repetitiveness, however, in trying to paint each player's paranoia and lust for power. It would have been better sticking to the fine details which were dropped like bread crumbs. In the end it seems quite topical if interesting. In the end you feel like much was left out like why the debacle of General Romel wasn't even mentioned or which important, if lesser insiders actually escaped. Even though for those interested in all things WWII this is a worthy series.
