Hush Money (2017)

I'm having a bad day.

Warning: Spoilers
Doug Shaw (Joshua Ray) is an out of work art teacher who works at the E-Z lube. He wears his work shirt with his name on it for kidnapping Kennedy (Kennedy Waite) the daughter of a ballplayer. Things go bad from the beginning as we have a number of dark comedy moments. Doug is sympathetic for the victim as she starts to care for his situation where his inability to pick sports winners has added to the crippling of his life to the point he owes too much to the wrong person.

The film cycles back and forth from being a dark comedy to a drama. It consists mostly of dialogue between two people. When someone else comes into the scene, it is for the dark comedy effect. Doug makes every mistake in the book, but makes for a bad protagonist as he creates his own bad situations. Could have been better.

Guide: F-word. No sex or nudity.
