John Craven back in 1972 had a clever idea. It's a clever idea that continues to be clever today, and that is to do a news programme for kids, that doesn't patronise, and in fact educates them beautifully about the world around them.
The fact that it continues to run today only proves that the show found its audience and is enjoyed by kids across the country. It is regularly used in schools to take serious topics and make them manageable.
It's a shame that these days its buried away on the CBBC Freeview channel, but at least it is a tool that the BBC still recognise can make a positive impact.
