Saving Private Leo is one fans have been waiting for that details his life before becoming a whitelighter. It focuses on two ghost buddies who fought in the war with him and now want vengeance for leaving them to die. While I enjoyed the unfolding story I don't feel they took it far enough by excluding two major characters his ex- wife Lilian and his friend Natelie who was his nurse maid. Without them present it feels hollow and wasted a good opportunity to bring back two great actresses. The vengeance wasn't handled well as they target those around him wasting time and didn't become demons for their actions screwing up continuation established before.
The innocent Leo works with was a Nice side story as she tries to overcome her fears of teaching. In a way it parallels Leo's journey as he's a guide and with his past coming back to haunt him feels like he can't do his job right. He has to overcome his hardships, find the strength in him and heal his scars to be an effective whitelighter again. The last scene shot of him attending his reunion left it on a sentimental note as he realizes he touched and saved the lives of fifty men who still appreciate his efforts leaving this teary eyed fan wanting to set an example like him.
