The land of Ooo is one of beasts, candy people, demons and magic - all of the great fantasy stuff. And here's 'Princess Cookie' with a convenience store hostage crisis. I mean, the imagination in this show is off the charts. But it also reimagines Finn and Jake as action heroes who slip into the store to take down an unbalanced cookie who's taken prisoners. Princess Cookie has kind of a tragic backstory (although it's still utterly ridiculous) and Donald Faison is perfect as the voice. He's one of my favorite guest stars. But the whole episode's an undeniable winner; the setup is killer, the ending is sweet while still being as random as it gets, and the one-liners come from all directions.
I love this show for some of the really meaty story and character arcs, but it's the little episodes like this one that really showcase its sense of humor.
