***SPOILERS*** A bit confusing to follow like the 6 day 2,500 mile bicycle race in this "Man Against Crime" episode with our hero private investigator Mike Barnett solving a murder on the racetrack involving legendary bike racer Knobby Clark who's neck was broken when his bike flipped over in the last lap of the race.
As things turned out it was gangster Buggs Barron who had a $300,000.00 bet on the race in getting the Dutchman team to win it by keeping the world champion Pinay Brothers Marcel & Jean on different teams splitting up their talent's in bike racing in half. As it soon turned out with Clark now out of the race his partner Marcel was reunited with his brother Jean in the race that the final outcome turned out to be a given that the two were to beat the Dutchman's team that cost Buggs to lose his $300,000.00 bet on him!
***SPOILERS*** As Barnett was soon to find out is that someone replaced the rubbing alcohol in Clark's pit-stop with a 20% solution or amount of corrosive acid that when he had it rubbed on his leg caused him to lose control of his bike that ended up killing him. Thus causing the Pinay Brothers, with Clark out of the running, to join together as a team to win the race. As it turned out it was Buggs Barron's partner Bluey Louie who did the job on Clark so the Pinay brothers would win the race that he , against his boss Buggs Barron orders, bet them in! There was then a violent falling out between Buggs and Bleuy that resulted in Buggs getting knifed to death by him but it was Barnett who got the last laugh as well Bluey's goat at the end of this very confusing episode. And he did that with the very thing, even though he faked it, that Bluey did to win his bet on the race.
