A great idea but it was unfortunately muddled at the end...

Warning: Spoilers
As usual for the era, Warren William plays a real jerk and a greedy jerk at that! When the film begins, Bob (William) goes off to medical school. However, he doesn't take orders well and gets himself thrown out of his residency...and does not become a doctor. Does this stop this rogue? Nah...and he soon changes his name and opens up a medical practice anyway!!! His scheme is to get a competent partner who can handle the serious stuff and he'll specialize in treating hysterical rich women who really aren't ill. Unfortunately, he can avoid the serious cases for so long and eventually comes a time when he's forced to do surgery and nearly kills this patient. What will happen next time and who will his next victim be?

The story is very good and well worth seeing...until the god-awful ending. Throughout the entire film, Brown has been a thoroughly detestable rogue and yet, inexplicably, in the end he has a change of heart, the folks that find out the truth DON'T contact the police AND he gets the girl!!!! This sort of crazy happy ending is just terrible and ruins what could have been an exceptional film. Too bad.
