This is the eleventh episode in the fourth season of the Simpsons. My oh my, did the subject matter even take a turn towards the dark side. It is strange seeing the light-hearted Simpsons deal with a subject matter involving death, but the show takes a few emotional turns in doing so. Plus, the episode still manages to crack a few jokes every once in awhile.

In this episode, "Homer's Triple Bypass," Homer's unhealthy eating has finally caught up to him when he suffers a major heart attack at work. Unable to get the money needed for proper surgery, the Simpsons decide to use the incompetent Dr. Nick Riveira (with the help of Lisa), to get Homer's heart back in good shape.

Overall, this is a very weighty and serious episode, but I thought it was very emotional. It has dark, but true themes. I loved how we got to see Dr. Nick Riviera shine in this role as Homer's hero. A very good episode in a very good season. I rate this episode 10/10.
