Warning: Spoilers
I just watched the episode with Pat Morita and Arte Johnson as two painters in Capt. Stubing's cabin. The only other episode remotely similar to this was the two guys building the ship out of toothpicks for Capt. Stubing from Gopher and Isaac, maybe Julie too.

Turned out the captain got nothing but miniature boats and wasn't at all thrilled to see the toothpick one, until one of the guys' very fancy wristwatch went off and Stubing, thinking the real prize was inside the tacky boat, smashed it to pieces to get the watch. As long as it made him happy, who was complaining. Well, the guy who lost his wristwatch.

This episode also featured Leslie Neilsen, Arlene Dahl and Mark Shera in a rather bizarre quartet of this guy's mother dating that girl's father and then they all break up and get mad or something.

Also along were Patrick Layborteaux as a youngster who falls for Julie, and she in turn is smitten with a much older man, Burke (who ironically appeared in another episode where it was incorrectly believed he was dating a woman young enough to be his daughter because she WAS his daughter).

As it is, distinguishing Love Boat stories together is impossible, so while I was remembering the toothpick boat episode, there was no way I could recall the guys who played the parts, tho I could see their faces very clearly.

Let's face it, Johnson and Morita they weren't.

One guy favored Donnie Most, but it wasn't him. I strained to recall what else I might have seen him on.

Finally, it hit me. A show in the '80s about brothers, one was gay, and he had an effeminate friend (what? You thought Will and Grace was original?). I couldn't recall either of the gay guys' names, but remembered the straight brother was that guy off Lou Grant.

Then I couldn't get his name, so I had to look under Lou Grant! It was Robert Walden who was on Lou Grant, then appeared on Brothers.

The gay friend was Phillip Charles McKenzie. Of course.

A quick check on his resume sure enough revealed a Love Boat appearance.

And there ya go.

all in all, a very fun way to track down a rather unique episode.
