Gunsmoke: Don Matteo (1960)
Season 6, Episode 7

The law comes between a friendship in this nice episode

Warning: Spoilers
The episode begins as we are introduced to an all around bad dude named Garth Taylor. The only reason he did not kill people when causing trouble in the Long Branch is because his gun was being worked on at the time. But he claimed to be back later to take care of business.

The scene changes and we are now introduced to a Mexican named Esteban Garcia which happens to be an old buddy of Matt. But his reason for being in Dodge is that he is tracking a man and plans on killing him. Matt advises Esteban that even being friends if he kills the person that he will have to ride after him. Even though Esteban does not reveal the name of the man we as viewers know, from an awkward glance, that Esteban is talking about Garth Taylor.

Later a farmer comes to Dodge with a gunshot to the leg. He tells Matt that Garth had stopped for some water and that a Mexican came riding up shooting. Matt and Chester ride out to the farmer's house to find out what has exactly happened.

A well written script that is classic western material. The story had to be rushed since it was in the 30 minute format but still produced a nice show that was interesting to the very end. With fine acting plus the script this turned out to be a very nice western story.
