THE RIFLEMAN – Nora – 1960

Chuck Connors headlines this 1958 to 1963 western series that ran for 168 episodes. Connors is a world class hand with a Winchester rifle. This of course ends up getting him in no end of trouble.

Julie Adams, an old friend of Chuck Connors arrives in North Fork. It seems that the once wealthy Adams needs some help. Connors of course will do what he can.

Adams though is not the woman Connors knew 15 years before. She is now hooked up with a card sharp, Michael Stefani. Stefani has hit a bad streak of luck and is in deep, $5,000, to fellow card sharp, Murvyn Vye. Vye is a bit too handy with a gun for Stefani and Adams to ignore.

Adams, being a smart lass, has come up with a plan to get out from under the debt. She has invited Vye to town with a promise to pay him off. She has her man, Stefani stay in the background while she plays up to Connors. Connors of course warms up to Adams. Adams then sets up Vye as an unwanted "rival" for her attentions. Adams hopes that Connors and his handy rifle will end her and Stefani's troubles.

Connors does not rise to the bait so Adams uses his rifle and applies some lead to Vye herself. She then blames Connors for the shooting. Connors and Sheriff Paul Fix soon drag the truth out of her and they grab up Stefani for a word. The joke is on Adams as Stefani has just won more than enough to pay Vye his $5,000.

Most will recall Adams from, THE CREATURE FROM THE BLACK LAGOON.
