Script conspires to make Don Quine's Stacey Grainger character look like an idiot, always having him do the wrong thing at the wrong time and the wrong place in order to make him the perfect patsy in a murder case. The mystery angle saves this episode though, jolting the drifting plot into gear and spurring a headlong gallop-to-the-rescue climax. Charles Bickford dominates as the regal John Grainger, and Lonny Chapman puts a corrosive edge on his role as a spiteful small rancher. Cinematographer Enzo Martinelli casts an adoring glow on beauteous Katherine Walsh, who plays Stacey's sweetheart. Walsh's death in London three years later is a real-life unsolved mystery.
