Hunting an American serial killer in Sweden
27 April 2013
Warning: Spoilers
This, the second story featuring the special 'A Unit' of the Stockholm police, involves the arrival of a notorious American serial killer, known as 'The Kentucky Killer' or 'K' in Sweden. His arrival is expected as he killed a Swedish man at JFK Airport in New York but he still manages to avoid capture at the airport. It soon becomes apparent that he isn't just using Sweden as a gateway to Europe when he starts killing again. His modus operandi is particularly gruesome as he uses specially made pliers to silence his victim before killing in an agonising manner. As the rest of the team hunt for the killer their leader, Jenny Hultin, heads to New York to see FBI contact Ray Larner and learn about previous cases that date back to the seventies.

Serial killers may be somewhat cliché but this series manages to bring something new to the genre; the arrival of an established foreign killer in the country. The way the killer commits his crime is disturbing but thankfully isn't dwelt on too much and the idea that one man could have evaded justice since the mid-seventies and why the killings stopped for several years before restarting provided a nice mystery although I'm sure many viewers will guess some details… it's always a good for the viewer to be able to guess some things but not everything… although any thoughts of personal cleverness will be short lived as further twists are revealed. There are some gruesome scenes that are sure to disturb some viewers although they don't glorify the violence in anyway and serve to show just how bad the killer is. Overall I think fans of the first story will enjoy this one as well.
