Spoiler Alert.......
I was somewhat excited about Dark Skies, a traditional concept with aliens that had a slight twist. At first glance from the previews, it appears to be a horror movie however, one can clearly see that this is based around the idea of Alien invaders. What was interesting about the movie is the way the Aliens took over the humans. It was very subtle yet extremely profound. Also, the way the seemed to confuse the humans in thinking it was one child and not the other.
Knowing that the Aliens were there, maybe even years before they showed any sign was a great take to the plot. Also, it was very intriguing when they went to visit the expert at his apartment and he shows them that there are three possible forms of Aliens that have been on Earth. Also the fact that a very common kind of Alien that is notorious for stalking families.
My issues are the fact that it seems there is always a spouse who doesn't believe until the very last moment, and it's usually too late. Also, when the family is in the room how did the older brother get separated that far from the family? I know the Aliens are mind manipulators but why go through so much trouble to capture a person, there were plenty of opportunities to abduct him. They could have done it when he was in the field or in the house that was for sale. Finally the very end was what disappointed me, movies that leave more questions than answers are extremely unsatisfying (unless there's a sequel). There are so many questions that can be asked about the two-way radio transmission, I'm not eve going to try, but overall it was okay.
