Days of Love (2005)
2/10
Maya's ego trip
12 November 2012
Because Israeli movies are not readily available in this country, I only get to see a movie from that country long after the best before date. Since Days of Love is all about Maya Buskila and her album of the same name, it's doubtful if this movie ever was in the best or even in the good category. Some star vehicles can be pleasant watching but these are the exception to the genre. Nothing about this movie is exceptional unless one looks at the centre of attraction, Maya.

Days of Love is probably 10% biographical. Maya Buskila was an obscurity before her discovery singing in a karaoke bar. She does come from a religious family and even obtained an army deferral on those grounds. Her religiousness somehow didn't prevent her from displaying, in this film, lots of leg and other jiggling female assets. To her credit, Maya Buskila eventually did some army service to make things right. Perhaps that's the lesson for everyone in this film. Maybe they should all get together again and try to make a film that's worth watching.
