The wonderful thing about Tiggers....
15 January 2012
Warning: Spoilers
I love Winnie the Pooh and the TV series The New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, and seeing as Tigger is my favourite character, I thought to myself this should be fun. And it was. Personally I do prefer the other video dedicated to Tigger, Detective Tigger which had a more consistent and funnier collection of stories, but this is still great.

"All's Well That Ends Wishing Well" is one of my favourites. True it is not Tigger at his most likable, there is a somewhat greedy side to him that may make some people not warm to him as much, but he is still fun with a fun personality and the ever hilarious quotes. Not to mention the amazing vocal talents of Paul Winchell. The animation is wonderful as it consistently is in the show, with only one noticeable mistake with Pooh's birthday hat falling into the well and a minute minute it is then right by it. Likewise with the beautifully orchestrated music, the witty writing and the charming story complete with a nice ending.

"Luck Amok" is not as good story-wise, but that doesn't mean much as it is still fun and charming like a vast majority of the stories for the show. The animation and music are great, and Tigger I warmed to much more here for me, he is often hilarious here but you feel sorry for him too, but as is the case with a lot of the episodes of the show the star is the writing, my favourites being, "Now if I'm Piglet but he's Tigger and you're Pooh then Rabbit must be.../Oh keep quiet!", Pooh's "We can't let him leave. Not for seven years! He'll miss my birthday" and "TIGGGGGGEEEEERRRRRR!" Not to mention the part when Rabbit goes down the drain.

"Stripes" is my absolute favourite episode on Tigger-iffic Tales. This is the episode on the tape where Tigger is at his most likable, and he is aided by the droll writing, Paul Winchell's marvellous voice work and a simple and touching story. The animation is beautiful as well as Tigger's song which is one of the more moving parts ever on The New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh. The rest of the characters are great, Rabbit is frustrated easily but you warm to him, Pooh is as lovable as ever, Eeyore is wonderfully cynical but also perhaps the one with the most sense and the little bug is adorable. I also love the message that with or without stripes, his friends accept Tigger for what he is, that is an important lesson I feel and it was conveyed very well.

Overall, a great entry to the Winnie the Pooh video tape series, but not as good as Detective Tigger or Sharing & Caring, Helping Others and Making Friends. 9/10 Bethany Cox
