This episode of "The Lone Ranger" has Clayton Moore adopting a disguise. Mind you, the Lone Ranger was an expert at disguises, but he didn't rely on them in each episode. Nevertheless, he uses one in this episode as Tonto and he set out to protect the governor's daughter, Ruth Standish (Sue England of "Funny Face") from a gang of outlaws who plan to kidnap her and hold her as a hostage to exchange for one of their own who is about to swing from the noose. Stark Durfee (I. Stanford Jolly of "Yukon Gold") is determined that his brother Clay (David McMahon of "Bus Stop") won't die since the governor has not issued a reprieve. Initially, Stark's henchmen--Blue (John Daheim of "Champion") and Tug (John L. Cason of "Screaming Mimi") attack the stagecoach that our two heroines are riding in and kill the driver during the pursuit. The Lone Ranger and Tonto intervene to save the daughter and her kin from being captured. The Lone Ranger and Tonto visit an old Hispanic friend and he furnishes them with disguises so that not only the Lone Ranger but also Tonto--in a rare example--pose as simple Mexican peasants. After the Lone Ranger has convinced the governor's daughter that Tonto and he do not represent a threat, they agree to dress up like simple Mexicans, too. The villains encounter them on the trail and our heroes pass muster. Complications arise when the villains meet the Mexican who loaned our heroes their disguises. He reluctantly has to confess what he has done, and Stark and company waylaid our heroes and take the ladies hostage. They knock out the Lone Ranger and Tonto but they don't take the time to kill them. Eventually, our heroes recover from this debacle and track Stark and his henchmen back to their hideout and rescue the girls after the Lone Ranger has a knock down fistfight with Stark.
